Maps are interactive. Drag them to move around. Pinch or stretch with
two fingers to zoom. Drag two fingers up or down to tilt or around to
rotate.
You can track your location on the map, but this uses more battery
power. Turn tracking on and off from the
Settings page. Tracking is most
accurate on devices that have GPS receivers. You can also turn on
following, which centers the map on your location continuously, and uses
even more battery power.
Touch the location button to center the map on your current location if you
haven't enabled following. Your
location is shown by a blue dot or arrow. The accuracy of your location is
illustrated by a circular area around the marker. You could be anywhere
within the circle.
Most
hiking trails are shown in the color of the blazes with which the
trail is
marked.
Map points use the following colors:
Red: general
Orange: distance markers
Yellow: picnic areas
Green: stores
Cyan (aqua): restaurants, drinking
fountains
Azure: pavilions
Blue: restrooms
Violet: emergency call
boxes
Magenta (fuchsia):
restaurants
Rose: parking
You can touch a map point to view its name. Most map points allow you to
touch the name to view details.
Be aware that many Stone Mountain Park official maps are oriented with
north down.
Details about specific maps
The
Orienteering map shows the advertised route in black and the
actual route in red.
The Quarry map shows general quarry areas plus specific
locations of quarried stones.
The Songbird Habitat and
Woodland Trail maps show the Songbird
Habitat Trail in red and the Woodland Trail in brown.
The Sun map shows the sunrise and sunset direction for summer
solstice in red and winter solstice in orange.
