The Memorial Lawn or Laser Lawn and the Memorial Plaza is located on the north side of the mountain below the carving. It was designed by sculptor Walker Hancock and was completed and dedicated in 1978.

The Memorial Lawn features thirteen terraces dedicated to the states that seceded and each one has interesting displays that tell of their history during the Civil War.

The Memorial Lawn is the location for viewing the Stone Mountain Lasershow.
