Teodoro Francesco Bottinelli (1886-1933) was an Italian sculptor who worked on the carving under Augustus Lukeman. Lukeman was too busy to visit the carving site regularly and needed assistance. In 1927, George Weiblen's father Albert assigned Teodoro Bottinelli, a talented sculptor from the Albert Weiblen Marble & Granite Company in New Orleans, to the project.

Bottinelli did much of the finish work of the period and oversaw even more of it. He carved the head of Robert E. Lee himself and did the initial work on the head of Jefferson Davis.

His monument at Metairie Cemetery in Louisiana includes a likeness of the head of Robert E. Lee.
